ZIMBABWE June 22 to July 3 and August 4 to 14

June 22:
At last we arrive at the tourist capital of Zimbabwe - Victoria Falls - and a long awaited reunion with our precious Zimbabwean friends whom we haven't seen for nine long months.
We didn't have to find accommodation here, but there are plenty of fine establishments in which to stay, but they are expensive as most accommodation must be paid for in US dollars. There are a huge number of activities for tourists to Victoria Falls, all of which can be arranged by resident safari groups, and several restaurants.
We chose Dabula Safaris to source the best activities and they were brilliant, did a marvellous job, in a professional but friendly manner, and nothing was too much trouble. They organised an elephant ride with Steve at 'The Elephant Experience', a visit to a crocodile farm,  a sunset cruise along the tranquil Zambezi River, which was really special, and bungee jumping - we're a bit too old for that caper but a young friend of ours enjoyed the experience. Of course, all tourists are attracted to the area for the opportunity to see at first hand the might Victoria Falls themselves. What a mind-boggling experience that is!
When we dined out it was usually at the Cattleman Restaurant and bar situated opposite Jay's Spar supermarket. The meals are of top quality and inexpensive, management and staff make you most welcome. The boat club, situated on the banks of the Zambezi, is a popular spot for locals.
If you plan to go to Zimbabwe you would have kept up with news of the critical situation in that country. We won't go into that, but will say that whilst we were there, there was no fuel, and basic food items such as sugar, cooking oil and bread had run out. Despite this, Victoria Falls is a wonderful  place to visit.
